Summary
Wilpattu National park is among the oldest and most important national parks in Sri Lanka. There are approximately 30 species of mammals in the Wilpattu National Park which include the Elephant, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Sri, Spotted Deer, Buffalo, Sambar and Mongoose. This park is also the most threatened national parks due to the human activities. Protecting this park is very important for the future. Our green camping experience will focus to involve the guests for protecting this wonderful environment to the world.
Important tips
- This is an adventure base camping experience that has the basic amenities for lodging.
- Please bring trekking shoes and comfortable clothing.
- Each guest has to plant 3 trees in the selected locations.
- Each guest should collect all plastic and polyethene garbage during the trekking and give them to the camp manager or naturalist.
- Please don’t bring plastic bottles, polyethene bags and any other garbage materials to the campsite.
- The annual temperature in the Park is between 27°C to 30°C and its annual rainfall is approximately 900 mm. The Wilpattu National Park is situated in the dry zone but most of the time flora is very greenish and has plenty of water sources.
